Welcome - About Live and Loud!

Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.

Depending on the quality of the original recording, these can often be made to sound almost like commercial recordings - but of course I can't guarantee that for every show. What I can guarantee is it will sound far better than the original files available which have been floating around the internet and on bootleg recordings for many years.

Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.

Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.

All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!

And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music.
There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

Links Explanation

As of now (mid November 2019) I'm phasing out the links that generated adverts. Having no control of the ads has resulted in issues for some people and this site is meant to be EASY! It will take a while for me to edit every page to change the links, so this text below relates to those links still going via an advertising 3rd party site.

Firstly - there are NO viruses in my files. The download link is generated by an online advertising company, which generates pop up ads for 5 seconds before letting you skip the ads and download the show file. Some of them can show up as positive in virus checking/malware detecting software - but follow the steps below and don't click on anything else, and you should be fine.

Please note, if you're using the internet through a VPN, this may stop the ad service redirecting you to my file link. If this is the case, disconnect the VPN, close and reopen your browser and try again.

1. Click on the "HERE" link on the show page - it takes you to another site (these names vary) - these are the sites generating the pop up ad.

2. If you have a pop up blocker like I do, you will need to unblock ads for that page. You may also then need to close the page and click on "HERE" again to reactivate that page.

3. Ignore the pop up ad and any messages from your virus checker - just look for a box on the upper right counting 5 seconds. It will then say "skip this ad" when it finishes counting.

4. Click on "skip this ad". The show will then either automatically download or provide you with a download dialogue box asking where you want to save it (this will vary depending on your own set up).

5. Any pop ups that appeared in the background, just close them.

Now 5 years old, this site costs money and needs to cover itself - the file hosting which makes sure the show files don't expire like on most sites, costs money, the domain names cost money, etc - as I can't work at the moment and don't claim benefits. Clicking on a link and generating an ad earns me something like a hundredth of a cent. It wasn't much - this year has earned 5 whole dollars. Ultimately it's not worth the hassle.

All people donating to the site get straight links to the files they've asked for which allow them to easily download the show as separate tagged files in the format of their choice, all for a donation of less than the price of a coffee!

If you can't download the shows any other way, please consider a donation - even the minimum of one UKP (this goes up on 1 December) helps a lot. Check the Donations tab for details.

  1. Nope. Can get to Step 4, but when I click "skip this ad", no download.

    1. Strange, first I've heard of that. There are many permutations of web browser and device of course. Perhaps try another browser (or indeed, device)?

  2. Hi and best wishes
no download after clicking on ''Skip this add''
after the click i get directed to some porn advertisements and shit like that - but no download starting, no links - nothing
    any suggestions?
    greetz from germany

  3. Hi, sorry to hear that. The shows ARE getting downloaded, so I can only assume its either a temporary problem or something local to you. Guessing you did wait the 5 seconds or so before clicking on "skip this ad"?

Perhaps try a different browser if you can? I've not tried it on phones or tablets but on mac and PC its been ok on different browsers?

    1. Hi there
i tried Opera, Firefox, K-Meleon and MS Edge - the result is the same:
after the click on 'skip' i'm directed to different advertisement-sites - and that's it.
I kept the sites open for 30 minutes: no links, no downloads
each tested browser was totally add-on-free, no ad-blockers or stuff like that at work.
i even tried all that using a vpn, to except local issues - no changes.
And i tired 3 different computers....guess what happened?
So i have no more ideas
Seems like i have no more chance to use your great site.
Nevertheless best wishes to you and greets from Germany.
      the disappointed K.

    2. That is indeed strange - the shows are getting downloaded (this one is very popular). The only thing I can think of is trying again another day - it may well have been something to do with the ad server (which is outside my control). Sorry you had problems.

  4. New issue is that the ad site/s REQUIRE you to allow Notifications to proceed. :( Ads are one thing, but not forcing to allow notifications from them :(

    1. No, don't allow notifications. Email me privately at flip dot martian AT googlemail dot com to discuss how to resolve this one for you.

  5. It's notify-monad.com that requires the notifications.
