A quick request. If you plan on downloading this and putting it on your YouTube channel or your own bootleg page - I don't mind. But a credit to this website where you found it and a link back to this page would be really appreciated. It helps me gauge which artists are popular - ie more chance of other restorations coming. Don't just steal it, cut out the intro and outro and take the credit. Thanks.
The Show
The source for this was a BBC Transcription disc I believe (vinyl) so I imagine it was intended for broadcast in the USA.The original had fadeouts after several songs (I guess to facilitate advertising breaks), some vinyl clicks and pops and the odd bit of vinyl noise. Otherwise it was in good condition. The performance of the band, pre fame and fortune, is superb - their career would take off soon after. This recording features the first live appearance of Message In A Bottle - their first #1 single in the UK when released much later in the year.
What Was Done
I blended the songs together better where there were fades and then got on with improving the basic sound quality. Really, it was improving the clarity, tightening up the bass and drums a bit and making them more audible in the mix, and separating out the guitar, bass, drums and vocals a bit. Once that was done, I mastered to make it more powerful.
This one is well worth a listen - they really are on fire during this gig and the crowd respond accordingly. Despite Sting saying more than once how great the crowd is and how they will have to come back - fate had other things (and bigger venues) in store for them, and as far as I can tell, they never did. I hope you can enjoy it.
