Show 66: Blondie - Live at Hammersmith Odeon London - 12 January 1980

This show is from one of their UK dates following the release of their 4th album, Eat To The Beat, in October 1979, and, I think, its good to compare this to the 1978 show I remastered here. As you will hear, they're clearly far more polished but still retaining their enthusiasm and energy. Following on from the huge success that the previous album, Parallel Lines had would always be tough but judging by this show, they were clearly giving it a go with a really strong set list, featuring Robert Fripp making a guest appearance on 1 track later on in the set.

This recording was in fairly good shape already, so no major repairs were required. However, some removal of noise and some decent EQ has really brought out the instruments and the space in between them pretty well - and given the recording that live "oomph" back! This is a pretty well known bootleg but sounds far better for being worked on - so if you already have it, grab this and compare. And its a great gig! Best...played...LOUD! :-)

2020 update: While preparing this old show as separate files for a donator to the site, I found I could now improve the sound quality further, over what I’d originally done to the recording several years ago. You can now download this new version (as of 2020) HERE as 1 new 320kbps MP3 file.

Or, if you would like to have separate tagged MP3s, or even lossless files in FLAC format, head on over to the Donations tab to see how you can obtain these for a very small donation towards the site costs.

  1. A well-recorded show, nicely polished. Thank you. It's well up there with the commercially-released show from the same tour - New Year's Eve in Glasgow Apollo with bagpipers preluding 'Sunday Girl'.

One minor error: track 12 labelled as 'Love Victim' is actually 'Victor', track 11 from the Eat to the Beat album.

    1. You're right, I took the info from the scan of the bootleg cover that came with the original files. I've got all the albums too! Thanks for that, I've updated.
