Welcome - About Live and Loud!

Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.

Depending on the quality of the original recording, these can often be made to sound almost like commercial recordings - but of course I can't guarantee that for every show. What I can guarantee is it will sound far better than the original files available which have been floating around the internet and on bootleg recordings for many years.

Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.

Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.

All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!

If you want to email me, an email link is in my profile in a link in the side panel.

And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music.
There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

Show 131 - Talk Talk - Live At The Paris Theatre, London - Early 1982

FREE DOWNLOAD OF SEPARATED, TAGGED MP3s

Exactly a year since we returned from a Winter break with a new season of shows, we return with a special commemoration to mark the sad passing of Mark Hollis this week, the singer and creative force behind the band Talk Talk who tragically died after a short illness aged 64.

By way of a tribute, we've remastered this short set broadcast on 10 April 1982. This is a lively, if short set from the original four piece lineup of Talk Talk, showcasing songs from their 1st album, The Party's Over. The original recording I had access to was very bass heavy - so much work was done reducing that; so you can turn this up a bit without hurting your ears! It now sounds clear and punchy, with all vocals and instruments being heard.

To avoid any accusations of cashing in on the sad death of Mark Hollis, this show is available for free as separated, tagged 320kbps MP3s in a zip, here - no donation required for this one.

If you still wish to just download the show as the usual regular free single 320kbps MP3 file, you can do so here.

  3. Thank you so much for this! Do you happen to know on which date it was recorded? I found a concert at Paris Theatre on YouTube with a different set list. And it's titeled 19th April 1982. Regards, Tonia

    1. Hi Tonia. Glad you enjoyed this one! Yes, I've just found that one too. The files I had were marked "Radio 1 In concert 1982 (April 10th, 1982)" - but I took that to mean the broadcast date (shows at the Paris Theatre were all for the BBC as you probably know) so could have been recorded 1 or 2 months prior. That one on YT sounds quite different - and as you say, different set. Not many relevant google results but 1 from the BBC in 2011 backs up that this was the setlist from the BBC broadcast. Maybe the YT one is from a different venue? Wouldn't be the first live bootleg to be labeled wrongly. Thanks for listening! :)
