Welcome - About Live and Loud!

Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.

Depending on the quality of the original recording, these can often be made to sound almost like commercial recordings - but of course I can't guarantee that for every show. What I can guarantee is it will sound far better than the original files available which have been floating around the internet and on bootleg recordings for many years.

Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.

Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.

All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!

If you want to email me, an email link is in my profile in a link in the side panel.

And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music.
There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

Links Going Forward

For years now, all my links have been shortened with the bit.ly url shortening service. However, they have introduced popups which are causing some users issues when clicking on my links, especially if they (quite sensibly!) have a pop up blocker installed.

So all new links starting in 2026 will not be using bit.ly anymore. And all old links will be amended - but with over 200 shows to do, this will take some time. But I do try and focus on all the shows here always being available and pay for that to happen, so this kind of thing just gets in the way.

If anyone has any issues in the meantime, please contact me.

As ever, for all the latest news on the site contents and related stuff, please consider subscribing for free to the emailed newsletter. Guaranteed spam free.

See you all in 2026!

29 Jan 2026 update - so far all gigs posted in 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 have had the bit.ly shortening removed, so should download or stream seamlessly for all. So now of the 200+ shows downloadable, 61 are now streamable too (as well as downloadable of course).

You can access any of these via the "Blog Archive" Years section in the right hand panel below the Artist Names list (if you're on a phone reading this, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "use website version" and you'll see these panels.

Lots more to be done of course. Any issues, please let me know. Cheers.

Some links are down - working on it

Hi all. It's just been brought to my attention that some of the links are not working. It seems something has happened with the bit.ly link shortening URLs. I'll get to the bottom of it asap and if necessary create new links. It's rather annoying as the files are all available on the cloud servers... In the meantime, if a link to a gig you're after isn't working, do please let me know. Cheers!

Edited to add... It seems the bit.ly SOMETIMES seem to generate their own pop up message window asking you to accept or refuse permissions, while also showing the stream or download link. So you should be able to ignore it and just download or stream as normal! HOWEVER, if you have a pop up blocker it may stop the link working, so you will have to add an exception or disable it temporarily. Users of the Brave browser (which inherently blocks pop ups) may have to use another browser, perhaps.

Do please let me know any issues! Cheers.

Show 230 - Jean Michel Jarre - Live In Paris - 14 July 1995

A quick request. If you plan on downloading this and putting it on your YouTube channel or your own bootleg page - I don't mind. But a credit to this website where you found it and a link back to this page would be really appreciated. It helps me gauge which artists are popular - ie more chance of other restorations coming. Don't just steal it, cut out the intro and outro and take the credit. Thanks.

The Show
A live event performed under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, to celebrate the 50 anniversary of the United Nations. Some time ago I was sent a slightly edited recording of this gig but it was on MP3. Recently I found the audio ripped from the original Laserdisc release of this, way back when. Still in relatively good condition but fairly flat. Drums and bass were low in the mix, and synths lacked any power at all really; very little low end existed. But this is the full released recording, long deleted of course, including JMJ's short speech before the last track.

What Was Done
For once, very little repair work. Only crossfading side one and side 2 to form 1 complete recording really. So an easy job then?! Well... No. I worked on the sound to improve the bottom end, bring back the bass and kick drum, make the synth pads (on Industrial Revolution, for example) powerful, so you could feel them, cleared the mix a bit to make it clearer but with elements more powerful, then mastered.

And the next day listened to it, didn't like it, so then mastered it again...

And then a couple of days later came back to it and AGAIN didn't like it, so mastered it a 3rd time!

This one I'm happy with. It's clearer, more powerful and sounds now more like a live concert. So turn it up, slap on a pair of decent headphones or play it through good speakers, and enjoy.

Supporting The Site

If you want to support the work I do on these recordings, and (if you wish to) obtain separate, fully tagged 320kbps MP3s of this restoration for less than the price of a coffee in return, or lossless FLACs - or even a lossless copy on CDR - head on over to the Rewards For Donations tab to see how you can obtain these for a very small donation towards the site. There is NO OBLIGATION to do so of course - you can take the file on this page absolutely for free - but every single donation is appreciated and helps me do more shows and update some of the software I use as time goes by. Either way, enjoy the show.

Subscribe And Share

Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE TO THE FREE EMAIL NEWSLETTER (spam free) so you never miss news on which new gigs are going to be restored and uploaded here; any news will be delivered to your inbox. And your email address won't be sold on by me as a result.

And if you like this recording, please spread the news and share the page link to anyone you think might be interested - Facebook fan groups, web forums, Bluesky, Mastodon, X, Threads, Instagram are a great way of spreading the word - that way, I always find out which bands are popular and can do more shows by them in the future. So please tell ya mates about the site and this page! Many thanks.
