I'm having to take a health break much sooner than expected this year, so while the site will continue - and links etc will work - I won't be updating the site with any new gigs, or taking on any client work for the next few weeks at least.
Just as soon as I'm back in circulation and there's anything to report, I'll update the free newsletter that goes out to all who sign up for it (yes, totally free) and we'll be off and running once more.
Welcome - About Live and Loud!
Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.
Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.
Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.
All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!
If you want to email me, an email link is in my profile in a link in the side panel.
And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music. There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

March 2025 Update
Wednesday, 4 December 2024
End of 2024 News
Hi all.
Ever since I started the Live and Loud! Shows newsletter with regular updates on site news, I keep forgetting to write news updates on the site itself for you, the casual passer by. So here I am... remembering to do so for once. Welcome.
It's early December, and as things stand, there are unlikely to be any further shows this year, 2024. I'm currently on a break as some health stuff recently got worse (as happens every few months) and doing anything involving sound (or indeed computers, some days) is impossible right now. Pretty annoying when your hobbies revolve around audio restoration and stuff that needs computers...
On the plus side I got 16 shows restored and remastered this year which is more than any year since 2020, as well as do quite a few shows for private clients, so I'll take that as a positive.
Oh, and if anyone reading this follows the facebook page and has noticed it disappeared...well, I deactivated my own account on there temporarily as part of this break, and until I come back, the FB page gone too. Group is still there, just not the page.
Anyway, I'll probably be back on there in the next week or 3. Live and Loud! Shows itself will be back very soon in 2025 restoring & repairing old recordings, remastering them and putting them up here for you to enjoy for free in the best available sound quality.
In the meantime, to stay up to date do please think of subscribing to the FREE EMAIL NEWSLETTER (spam free) so you never miss news on which new gigs are going to be restored and uploaded here; any news will be delivered to your inbox. And your email address won't be sold on by me as a result. Click on the link to read a few, see what you think. Or don't! Up to you.

Latest Site News (August 2023)
I put this in the last newsletter already but for anyone just finding the site or not wanting to subscribe to that - some site news!
Those of you who have been following Live and Loud! Shows for a few years might remember that every so often I have to take a break due to chronic (ie long term) health stuff that sometimes gets worse and takes over. Unfortunately that time has come along again. I’ve already been spending less time on screens than usual recently but it seems that’s not helping, so I plan on taking a few weeks off from this. Hoping to be back working on restorations in September but it will take as long as it takes...it's not really something I can plough on through and carry on without making things very much worse.
Anyone donating to the site will still get whatever they request; they rarely take long to sort out and I will be checking emails most days. But as I keep saying - you can also download anything on the site for free; the only thing I ask from you is that you enjoy the restorations! :-)
If you like what's on the site, please consider subscribing to the free newsletter (spam free) so you never miss news on which new gigs are going to be
restored and uploaded here; any news will be delivered to your inbox. Or pass links to the pages of gigs you enjoy on to friends/fans/social media.
Back soon. Be good. x

News - Subscribe To The New Email Newsletter
Hi!
Blogger (what this site is built on) stopped alerting subscribers with any updates quite a while back now, and I had no way of reliably giving everyone updates - relying on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram is often flaky at best. I will still be using those platforms - at least for now - but I now have a new newsletter via Substack which I will use to send out emails to subscribers to let them know about new gig restorations being added to the site, and any other site related news.
So if you want to keep uptodate with what'd going on on the site, please subscribe to receive future updates directly in your email inbox - it’s entirely free of course and you can unsubscribe at any time. Just use your email address in the box on the page; no Substack account is necessary.Tuesday, 6 September 2022
Subscribe To The New Newsletter!
I now have a newsletter - subscribe (it's free!) and every now and again you will get an email update from me - which new show has been uploaded, what's being worked on, anything relevant!
Even if you're in the Facebook group or have liked the Facebook page, you may well miss posts, given how Facebook skews what it shows you. Same with the Instagram account too, and my own Twitter account. The newsletter is the best and most reliable way of finding out what's going on with the page, and is hosted on Substack, right HERE.
Go take a look, hit a subscribe button (no substack account required - just the email address you want the newsletter sent to) and that'll be that. Emails are only likely every couple of weeks or so, so you won't get spammed.
Cheers!

The Future of This Website
This site was set up in 2014 in Blogger - which back then was a decent blogging software (Wordpress was another). It's fair to say that times have changed, and Blogger (owned by Google) hasn't really kept pace and is now seen as old hat.
On it's own, that isn't a huge issue for a site as simple as this. However, Google have decided to remove email notifications for anyone subscribing to this site - last time I looked there were approximately 1500 subscribers to Live and Loud! and Google should have been sending out regular emails when I update the site (I haven't even seen these so I don't know!) but that will end this month.
I have access to the email addresses of those who have kindly subscribed through the years and am looking into an alternative solution at the moment; maybe just a once a month message letting you know what the latest updates are. Anyone wishing to unsubscribe will of course be free to do - I certainly don't want to end up spamming anyone not interested.
But in the meantime, there may be a hiatus of a month or 2 until that gets started, so if you want to know the latest - bookmark the site, add it as a favourite, or whatever teh terminology is in your browser of choice - and call back again soon!
Bearing in mind the age of the website, early plans are also being put in motion to redesign the site and move it to a different platform and service altogether. That is more a medium term goal - more news on THAT as it develops; in the meantime, the next update in a week or so, should be all about music and a new live restoration!
Cheers all.

Shows Finished For 2020

New Versions Of Old Shows Uploaded
Those of you who have been here a while might remember that when someone is kind enough to donate and support the website, they get to choose which gigs they'd like as separated files. When people ask for old shows, before I split them into a file per song, I see if I can improve what I did first time around, make the improvements, then the donater gets a better sounding version and I then update the main site with a new MP3 of the improved version so anyone can grab the new version.
That last part I got a bit slack on this year for 1 reason or another, so I've just been catching up - there are now 5 old shows which have just been updated on the site. Links to the page of each, where you can grab the new versions, are here:
Bauhaus
Live in Boston 2005
The Undertones
Live at Paradiso Amsterdam - March 1980
Zuiderpark Rotterdam - September 1980
Blondie
Live at Hammersmith Odeon London - 12 January 1980
Elvis Costello
Winterland San Francisco - 7 June 1978
Have a look through the site and you will often see on the pages for the older shows that a recently updated version exists - from 2018 onwards, usually. These will sound better than the original restorations done - sometimes back in 2012, so go take a browse and grab your self some live sounds!
And remember, if you wish to support the site and donate, all the info on what you can get in return is on THIS PAGE. Either way, enjoy the music!

News - Link Changes
Given how little revenue makes it to me from these clicks anyway (a tenth of a cent, per click), the hassles outweigh the benefits so effective this week, the links will start to disappear - the next new show, due shortly will not have the ad link, it will go straight to the file. And I will start to replace the ad links with the original file links (Shows 1 to 20 are already done).
This does mean the minimum requested donation of support will be going up. It came down from £3 to £1 for the separated MP3s when the ad links went live - this will now go up from £1 to £2 from 1 December. So you have just under 2 weeks to get any shows you wanted as separate MP3s for £1 each. FLACs remain at £5.
Wednesday, 5 June 2019
Donations cost less
For the next few weeks, shows as separated and properly tagged 320kbps MP3s can be had of the show of your choice for less than a coffee - a donation of just £1. Just CLICK HERE (or on the link on the right), on the Paypal screen, send me a note of the show or shows you would like and you’ll have them either same day, or within 48 hours if they’re not yet prepped.

Site Update
I remain grateful to everyone who has donated to the site - some who haven't even wanted any files in return - you have all helped enormously! But I know this isn't guaranteed.
I have also had some other sites taking these shows and reposting them - I have no problem with that if they give credit for what I've done - but in some cases they've actually done the opposite and removed anything linking it to me. And then made them available from THEIR sites via ad links. So they're making money from my work and have done nothing apart from grab it from here for free. They're making me out to be a mug, frankly.
So for all these reasons, the free show downloads will soon all link to a 5 second ad before giving you download link. This won't be paying for a holiday, or even a swanky meal for 2 (nowhere near! :-) ) but over a 12 month period should at least go towards the cost of the of the cloud storage and hopefully guarantee - with the odd donation that comes in - that all site costs can be covered each year.
If this works as it all should do, I will also be reducing the cost of donating to receive separated MP3s for anyone who does want those.
Live and Loud! has managed to remain completely ad free for 5 years - which was always my intention. As someone said recently, that's a rarity nowadays! But the reality is, I was working then and now I'm not, and that has needed to change for a while so the site pays for itself.
I'm aware that to most downloading from here, they are used to ad links anyway, so it won't be a big deal for them - but this info is particularly for those of you who don't generally visit other sites offering live shows.
Instructions
Shows affected will have it noted in the description where the link is. Click on the free download link on my pages as normal. You will be sent to another webpage where there might be a pop up labeled "Festy"or "Shorte", asking you to select yes to proceed - this is safe to click on. If you see any other popups, ignore or close them. At this point you should be seeing an advert of some kind. After 5 seconds you will see a "skip this ad" button on the top right - click on that and the download option for the show will appear as usual. Due to the freeloaders on other sites mentioned above, if you have a popup blocker installed, you will not be able to download the shows. I'm sorry I have to do this - but please disable your adblocker for the screen that appears with the ad. You may need to go back and click on the link a 2nd time once you've done this.

Extended Winter Break
In the meantime, a supporter of the site asked for the Adam and the Ants show as separate files - and I reworked that a bit to improve it; that's also now available on the site here for you to download as 1 improved MP3, for free (just check the links on the right of the page).

Short Break - Updated Content
Short break
We're planning on moving house, hopefully in about 5 weeks or so, up into a rural part of Scotland. Before then, there's lots to do and sort out, and where we're moving to has slower internet than here, so upload speeds will be slower - and necessitate me leaving files to upload over night I think, rather than the several minutes they take here! So I'm trying to get through as many of the old shows as possible and upload the separated versions for any donators that request shows (doesn't happen often but I like to be prepared!) to save time after we move. Once they're on the server, these usually take much less than the 48 hour turnaround I usually give to process the order and send on. (Information on what you get for donations is posted in the link below: http://www.liveandloudshows.com/p/blog-page_12.html)
Updated content
When I do split the shows for donators, some of the older shows (if they need it) get revisited and improved again when I prep them as separated FLACs or MP3s; I think I've got better at this restoration lark since I first started in 2012 and some of the older shows certainly don't sound as good as I remember. For the first time, I will be updating the free "single MP3" versions on here as free downloads, with those new and improved versions (previously, only donators got the benefit of any improvements). Donators still get the separated MP3s and FLACs of course - and not EVERY old show needs reworking - but I'll post updates on this as I go.
The future
New shows will resume asap after the move - probably early in January 2019. I have tons of material to work on - literally hundreds of shows - about half a terabyte's worth, last time I checked, by artists yet to appear on Live and Loud! as well as others who have appeared already. And new ones being found regularly too, of course! And hopefully (!) once the move is out of the way, I can get back to a more regular and frequent release schedule next year.
So there really is much more to come! Stay tuned...

Latest News - November 2017
Just to let you regular visitors know that I'm taking a short break for a few weeks. This IS only a short break though - I'll probably be back with a show or 2 before Xmas but first, I have a few things I need to get done in the studio (and a holiday to go on!). LOADS more to come when I get back, into 2018 and beyond - radio sessions and, of course, live shows - so don't go anywhere!
I jsut want to take the opportunity to give a big thanks to those of you who share the links out and to those of you who have donated and helped with my costs - every donation has been much appreciated - hope you've been enjoying the files you get in return!

For the record, this is what's been done in 2017 up to now - you'll find them all by clicking on the artists names on the right hand side of the page where you can download these and all the others for free!
