Welcome - About Live and Loud!

Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.

Depending on the quality of the original recording, these can often be made to sound almost like commercial recordings - but of course I can't guarantee that for every show. What I can guarantee is it will sound far better than the original files available which have been floating around the internet and on bootleg recordings for many years.

Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.

Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.

All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!

If you want to email me, an email link is in my profile in a link in the side panel.

And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music.
There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

Show 182 - Slade - Live At Edinburgh Odeon - 9 Dec 1981

A quick request. If you plan on downloading this and putting it on your YouTube channel or your own bootleg page - I don't mind. But a credit to this website where you found it, and a link back to this page would be really appreciated. It helps me gauge which artists are popular - ie more chance of other restorations coming. Don't just steal it and take the credit. Thanks.

Another great live performance from Slade, this time from 1981's Til Deaf Us Do Part tour. This is actually 2 recordings. Most is from an audience recording, but parts of the gig were broadcast on FM radio. Someone at some point stuck them together to make the whole gig but there were overlapping bits. And the sound quality wasn't very good. So I've done my best to clean up the recordings, and then blend them together.

Noise, tape dropouts, uneven levels and finally very muddy sound quality all got tackled. The final part was splitting up the tracks, removing overlapping parts and blending everything back together. And then mastering the whole thing. As often happens, the first track is probably the worst sounding but after that it improves considerably.

As of 2026, you now have the choice to not only download this repaired, restored and remastered show as one 320kbps MP3 file but also to stream it - exclusively for FREE by clicking right HERE.

If you would like to support what I do, and this site, and obtain separate, fully tagged 320kbps MP3s or lossless FLACs of the restoration, head on over to the Rewards For Donations tab to see how you can obtain these for a very small donation towards the site costs. Absolutely no obligation to do so of course - you can take the file on this page absolutely for free.

Either way, enjoy the show! And if you like this recording, PLEASE spread the news and share the page link to anyone you think might be interested - facebook fan groups, web forums, X and Instagram are a great way of spreading the word - that way, I always find out which bands are popular and can do more shows by them in the future. Many thanks.

You can find the other Slade shows I've restored HERE.

And finally... don't forget to SUBSCRIBE TO THE NEW FREE NEWSLETTER so you never miss news on which new gigs are going to be restored and uploaded here; any news will be delivered to your inbox and I guarantee you no spam - and of course you unsubscribe at any time.

Show 143 - Slade - Live At The Glasgow Apollo - 26 March 1982

This show was originally sent to me by a listener requesting that as I'd done a couple of Slade shows before, could I have a go at this one? After a trial go on the MP3s they'd sent, I eventually found a lossless copy online and worked from that.

Originally an FM broadcast, but the first half was significantly lower quality than the second - until the end of Lock Up Your Daughters the sound was far flatter and muffled. And in mono! So I've worked on the 2 sides separately and then brought them together. I used some studio tools on part 1 to open the sound out a bit so it sounded closer to part 2 and then there was a lot of work with EQing both sides separately to sort out. In fact, I've had several goes at this on and off over the last few months - but hopefully you will enjoy the result.

It was worth persevering with - the show really rocks! Maybe 1982 could be said to be in the twilight of their careers but Slade were still on top form and sounding like they enjoyed every minute - as does a noisy Apollo crowd.

Show 128 - Slade - Live At The Winterland, San Francisco - 6 May 1973

A great set from Slade from one of their many dates in the USA; a short set from when they were second on the bill to Humble Pie. The source is a bootleg with other tracks tacked on from a different gig - but I like the sets on here to represent individual gigs wherever possible, so this is just the 6 tracks from The Winterland.

It's a great recording anyway with just a couple of things that needed repairing before I could set the 30 band EQ loose on it. The EQ cleared the mix quite a bit and brought out the drums - this is a really powerful performance (well, Hear Me Calling isn't quite so much but once the sound guy had sorted out the mix they were off and rocking!) and, like Slade live always was, best played loud!

Show 69: Slade - Live at The Showplace, Dover, New Jersey - 30 July 1976

Slade, from their US tour in 1976. Slade had long since conquered the UK charts by 1976, with a string of hits for years beforehand, where they were seen very much as part of the glam rock movement for a long time. By 1975 they were off to America to try and conquer there too, spending much of the next 2 years there touring. This gig comes from towards the end of their time in the USA. Slade always had a reputation as a great live band and this gig is great evidence of that, combining many of their hit singles with album tracks in a great performance.

A flat and thin sounding soundboard recording has been restored and sounds really good now - the power of the performance only gets better as the gig warms up.
